Using Conventions
1. We used a female antagonist to counteract the stereotypical male villain. We used this because we thought that by not using a male it may confuse the audience and think that the female would be the victim and not the villain.
2. We used quick paced shots towards the end of the trailer just like ' lights out' because it makes the viewer more interested and by showing flashbacks of the entire film in small segments it lures the viewer in but does not give any of the story line away. 3. We decided not to hide out antagonist because it stops the viewer from getting confused to what is going on unlike 'Scream' where the villain is masked for the whole period of the film. |
Developing Conventions
1. The music that we have used as a convention is quite creepy but at the same time quite modern to impress the audience as best as we can. This impacts the way modern music can merge with old fashioner horror music.
2. Our main prop in our trailer was a pair of scissors which relates to the name of our trailer, which we got our inspiration from Edward Scissorhands. |
Challenging Conventions
1. We decided to use quite modern music in our trailer although there were classical instruments involved it still gave the atmosphere a eerie feel. We used this because by putting modern music in it makes it a lot more recognisable and some cases more interesting.
2. We used only one killer with one victim but it is the opposite to what an audience would expect. This is because we used a male victim and a female killer which is not seen as stereotypical. 3. This is a horror film based on a haircut which is unlike anything done before. This makes in unique where you would not expect a horror film to erupt from a simple haircut. |
Our Poster
Our poster has a white background to show tranquility whereas the red seen as blood is classified as danger and fear showing a strange but gory mix of emotions. The hair clogged up in the plug hole shows that it has a relation to a hair salon which gives the viewer and insight to what is happening in the trailer.

Our Magazine
Our magazine and poster are very different to each other because in the magazine we actually show the protagonist and the victim. We have used the white and red combination in the magazine as well to contrast tranquility and danger from the trailer. Not many posters and magazines are different from each other but ours is ti show more of the storyline rather than the character side of the trailer.
