Throughout the course of our project of making a horror trailer we were extremely influenced by audience feedback which changed our horror project drastically. Originally we thought about doing a stereotypically paranormal sub genre involving a colt of satanic worshippers in the forest; after reflecting on some feedback we soon began to realise that this plot wasn't going to stand out enough to be successful or appreciated by such a difficult target audience in the horror industry nowadays.
A survey was conducted in order to see what people liked to see in horror and what they then thought of our trailer. People gave us the idea of defying stereotypical views such the killer being a male- it influenced us to make the decision of having a female killer to entice a new upcoming and in demand type of horror.
We believe that the most effective way of gaining a good understanding and obtaining a good feedback is to conduct a survey, this is because it gives us a range of both quality and quantitative data which is extremely reliable.

Trailer Reaction:
Here we have Ewan who enjoys horror films and can be shown here reacting to our trailer, this reaction is fairly calm but it is evident to see that the shock of the gore and the un natural nature of the female villain bullying her male victims get's quite the unique, disgusted reaction- this unique approach is extremely enticing and keeps the audience fixated on the screen, this trailer just goes to show that jump scares aren't always necessary in horrors.
Audience Reaction:
In this video we have Morgen, a young female who is extremely enthusiastic about acting and drama who was attracted to our trailer due to the fact that our villain was female, along with factors such as pace and the structure made this trailer combine extremely well with this plan. This came to a surprise as we initially thought we would attract more males and this feedback gave us the incentive to proceed with our plan and edit the clips to succeed the role of the female villain.
Social Media Feedback.
Social media feedback was extremely important is it gave us a much wider perspective on our trailer as this gave us the opportunity to draw an audience in rather than target them. The trailer gained a good response from females- this was a pleasant surprise as stereotypically males prefer these particular films- however down to having a unique storyline with a female actress playing the killer it seems to have attracted a wider audience.
All of the quantitative and quality feedback received through the variety of different methods we conducted proved to enable us to change key factors such as sound, camera angles and props such as makeup to focus on making the female stand out as the audience felt very entertained by a female villain which was our initial plan. We also know that we managed to attract our target audience of young adults through our methods of researching our target feedback through social media. In addition we furthermore investigated into what the viewers preferred to see between the choices of jump scares and gore, luckily we had already chosen to use gore in our horror to make it effective which proved to gain a very good response from the audience. In regards to the rest of our trailer it had an positively overwhelming response, people commenting on the use of a good build up, good use of makeup and very professional pictures and editing.
